About

Crafted, not assembled.

KUTASSY is a Budapest-based digital studio. No account managers, no hand-offs — the people designing your project are the same people who ship it.

How we started

Built because watching good ideas ship badly got old.

KUTASSY started as a reaction, not a business plan. Years of watching strong ideas get diluted by hand-offs, sign-offs, and account layers that exist to manage a client, not to make the work better. We wanted to build the studio we kept wishing we were hiring.

So we work the way a workshop works. One project moves through the same hands from first sketch to shipped code — the person designing the layout is the person writing the code that ships it. Nothing gets lost in translation, because there's no translation happening.

A website doesn't need thirty people passing it down a line to get it right. It needs a handful of people who actually understand it, making every decision themselves. We'd rather finish four projects with real craft than run ten through an assembly line. That's the trade we made on day one, and it's still the right one.

What we stand for

We'd rather say no than do it halfway.

Every project we take on gets our full attention, not a fraction of it split across a dozen accounts. So we turn down work that doesn't fit our pace, our values, or our capacity — not because we're precious about it, but because half-attention produces work nobody is proud of.

Every line of code is something one of us has to live with.

There's no separate team that inherits the mess later. The person who writes a shortcut today is the person who debugs it in six months — so shortcuts rarely happen. Ownership isn't a value statement here, it's a structural fact.

Hungary is home base, not a limitation.

We build for clients well beyond our own borders, on the same standard we'd hold ourselves to in person. A good idea doesn't need a passport, and neither does a good website.

How it actually shows up

Curiosity isn't a personality trait here — it's the job description.

We don't put this on a wall to feel good about it. It's the reason half of what we ship was never in the original brief — someone on the team got stuck on a question nobody asked them to answer, and followed it anyway.

Conversion

Someone asked why checkout had five steps. Nobody had a good answer.

We cut it to two. Conversion was up before launch week was over — and "why does this need five steps?" is now a question we ask on every project, not just the ones where it's obviously broken.

Content ops

A developer wondered why clients had to click through six menus just to change a price.

That side question turned into a single editable field, right on the homepage. It now ships by default — nobody has to ask for it anymore.

Performance

Someone kept asking "but what does this look like on a slow connection?"

We test every build on throttled 3G now. It's caught more real problems than any formal QA pass we've run.

Research

Why were 40% of visitors leaving from the exact same scroll point, every time?

Nobody had flagged it as an issue. Turned out the answer was one confusing sentence — curiosity found it in an afternoon, no ticket required.
